{"id":567,"date":"2013-12-26T11:06:27","date_gmt":"2013-12-26T17:06:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gofranklingo.wordpress.com\/?p=567"},"modified":"2018-07-13T02:03:00","modified_gmt":"2018-07-13T08:03:00","slug":"2014-postal-rate-increase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.gofranklingo.com\/index.php\/2013\/12\/26\/2014-postal-rate-increase\/","title":{"rendered":"2014 Postal Rate Increase"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Regulators on Tuesday approved a temporary price hike of 3 cents for a first-class stamp, bringing the charge to 49 cents a letter in an effort to help the Postal Service recover from severe mail decreases brought on by the 2008 economic downturn. \u00a0The cost for a second ounce of first-class mail was increased to 21 cents. \u00a0However, for automated first-class mail, the second ounce remains free.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Bulk mail, periodicals and package service rates will rise 6 percent.\u00a0The actual rate charts have not been published as of this writing. \u00a0They will be posted on this blog as soon as they are available.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The new price of a postcard stamp, raised by a penny to 34 cents in November, also is effective next month.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The last price increase for stamps was in January, when the cost of sending a letter rose by a penny to 46 cents.
