Do invoices and statements have to be mailed First Class?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes. According to the USPS, “Matter containing personal information, partially or wholly handwritten or typewritten matter, or bills or statements of account must be mailed as First-Class Mail, unless mailed as Express Mail or Priority Mail, or otherwise exempted by the Postal Service.” (View source). <\/p>\n

Does the address box have to be a certain size?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes. The minimum size for an address box is 4 x 1.5. <\/p>\n

If we have to make a white box to put the indicia in, does the white box have to be a certain size?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes. The indicia box must be approximately .75 x .875 (it can be slightly smaller if absolutely necessary as long as it can be easily read). <\/p>\n

Does a customer have to put a return address on their mail when using an indicia?<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Only if they are mailing non-profit. Otherwise, no, a return address is not required when using an indicia. <\/p>\n

How do I know if something is a card, letter or a flat?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Postcards (true postcards, that is) must be a minimum size of 5″ x 3.5″, a maximum size of 6″ x 4.25″ and 7pt (.007) thick.<\/p>\n

Letters (including what we often refer to as “postcards” larger than 6″ x 4.25″) must be rectangular with a minimum of 5″ x 3.5″, a maximum of 11.5″ x 6.125″, a minimum of 9pt (.009) thick and a maximum of 1\/4″ thick.<\/p>\n

Flats are rectangles larger than 11.5″ wide or 6.125″ tall, square in shape, or are taller than they are wider, and are subject to significant postage penalties. <\/p>\n
